Applications

Calling all Parents, Teachers, Activity Coordinators, Child/Adult Day-Cares, Librarians, Hospitals, Baby Sitters, Theaters, Artists, Fundraisers, Businesses, Contestants, Entreprenuers, Gifting…. Get excited about reading, drawing and writing as a fun activity as a fmily or group.  The Surprise has many applications for any entity.

Application ideas:

• • Read out loud. Person reading draws in the book while others draw on paper. (unless everyone has their own book of course). At the end everyone writes about what they think will happen next on paper.  The last reader can write in the book!
  • Family time – Read a chapter a day to your child/children – have the child draw the next day. At the end of the book the child writes about what they think will happen next – the next day the child reads to you about what they wrote and the Caregiver/Parent draws and writes about what will happen next based on what the child wrote – and so on and so on…
  • Surprise someone – You can read a chapter to someone/group – show them a blank page for the illustration – get their reaction – take the book and secretly draw in it. Next day read the last line and show them the drawing and watch their reaction!
  • Teachers – use The Surprise for Art Class – Reading – Story Time -Writing Prompt – Students can produce a video of the story. Drama Class production as A Narrated Play/Skit – Have students, teachers, parents be the players.  Raise funds with the skit.
  • Surprise your Kids. Play out the story in real life on your kids last day of school!
  • Unique gift – Illustrate the book and gift it. Give the recipient their own book to illustrate as well.
  • Businesses – Purchase The Surprise as gifts for your employees, Team building activity. (Adults like to have fun too!)
  • Fundraiser! sell the book, earn money! Use The Surprise as a product in return for a certain amount in donations.
  • Hospitals – Activity book for kids and adults while they are in the hospital. The Surprise also makes a great going home gift!
  • Entrepreneurs – Provide event entertainment services with The Surprise. The participants become illustrators and co-authors!  Charge a dollar amount per person or flat rate.  This is to cover the cost of the number of book you need along with other supplies plus whatever profit you want to make.  Purchase the appropriate number of books from us, plus one for yourself.  Provide paper, art supplies (colored pencils, etc.), scissors, glue, rulers (get creative with the project) for your audience.  Purchase an easel and large drawing pad for yourself to guided drawings.  (see below for entertainment idea).

   

• Begin the entertainment by:
  1. Reading the story from your personal book that YOU have illustrated until you get to the drawing page.
  2. If able, Participants Draw in the book OR measure the size of the drawing area in the book and create that size on paper. * Draw the picture in that space, you can guide their drawing * When finished, Cut and glue the picture in the book in the participant’s book.
  3. Continue steps 1 and 2 until the end of the book.
  4. At the end, have the participant fold paper in half and write about what they think will happen next for 5-10 minutes.
  5. When everyone is done, the participants can show their illustrations and read what they wrote.
